Pro-Tips Spring Teams

Spring Elite Program - 2008

“MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE”

PRO-TIPS Sports Corp. is a London based company that prides itself on providing the highest quality individual education and team experience through sport participation. Our staff’s first love is hockey and we work full time to provide a complete program for all hockey players. Whatever level a child is playing at, we work to provide a curriculum that will help them take their game to the next level.

Our Spring Elite Program is designed to foster that development year round. It is especially vital at the novice level, where AAA and AA opportunities do not exist. The Pro-Tips Spring Elite Program will provide the opportunity for your son to compete with and against players of similar caliber, which will further improve their skills and ultimately prepare them for excellence at the higher levels in the future. Elite athletes are the exception, and as such, it is difficult to find challenging environments, Our Spring Elite Programs are designed to put the elite athlete in the best environment possible.

In combination with providing your child with the best environment possible, our Pro-Tips Spring Elite Program will also provide education to you, the parents. With elite level athletes, there will be difficult decisions that need to be made, and the Pro-Tips staff ‘has been there’ and can provide knowledge that will allow parents to make the right decisions for their children, the decisions that will give them the best opportunity for future success.

Our coaches are all former Elite hockey players or coaches. Our staff this year includes current Sarnia Sting coach Dave McQueen; former NHL player and team Canada gold medalist Jim Sandlak, former Detroit Redwing draft pick Don Oliver; current Director of player personnel for the Florida Panthers Scott Luce; former OHL player Bob Leeming

Over the past ten years hockey tournaments that follow the completion of the minor hockey season have evolved to the point that there are many people who believe that spring hockey is, in fact, a higher caliber and a better level of hockey than winter hockey, because only the best players are selected for the elite programs. Pro-Tips aims to select the very best local players and allow them to learn, and to compete together, in this atmosphere.

The first level of the Pro-Tips Spring Elite Program is designed to introduce Minor Novice age players to the Elite Program and to spring hockey. It is scaled appropriately for 7 year olds to ensure the proper mix of skill-oriented practices and two great tournament experiences. The 1999 Spring Elite Program will allow the kids to experience the speed and the skill of AAA level games and practices without a huge commitment of time or money. Our oldest spring team will be players born in 1992 that are preparing for their draft year. This program will focus on conditioning, skill development and all of the intangibles necessary to prepare for the draft.

There are no tryouts for our teams. We feel that the pressure associated with making a team is something that these players do not need to endure. We also ensure that all players have been scouted by a member of our staff. Only 17 players will be invited, and if anyone of those 17 decides not to participate or does not respond by a pre-determined date we will invite others. Our goal is to provide the very best environment in which players train, develop and showcase individual and team talents.

Characteristics of Elite Performers

  • Motivated by “ Mission ” – Top Performers not only have dreams and goals, they passionately invest in seeing, feeling and realizing them. Their sense of ‘mission” produces inspiring focus and energy.
  • Action Oriented – Peak performers have a great work ethic. They stay assertive, enjoy “going for it” and epitomize the slogan “just do it”
  • Self Mastery is Important – People who get and stay on top are always working on personal and situational excellence. They want to see “how good they can be” and love working on technical, tactical, physical and mental development goals.
  • Flexibility and Control – peak performers are creative and can see solutions and maintain perspective when others can not. They also are “mentally tough” and can “focus” effectively and refocus when necessary. This flexibility/control is usually due to superior preparation – physical, mental and emotional preparation.
  • Love Challenge/Change – Top performers prepare not only for the expected but also the unexpected. They see demanding/changing conditions as the ultimate challenge and opportunity to test/develop oneself. They enjoy positive rivalries, love being tested and believe in the suggestion that “Tough times don't last, tough people do!”
  • Team Oriented – Peak performers are great “team” people. They care enough to encourage, challenge and support teammates when necessary. They stay respectful and appreciative of the many “role” players and attributes that are necessary to create and maintain an effective team.

The signature of Pro-Tips Sports is to offer each and every individual the opportunity to take their game to the next level. Our belief is that this can only be achieved by offering a program that includes professional training from hockey professionals. ”Practice makes perfect” is a philosophy that assumes perfect technique is already achieved. We stress and demand skill development to foster improved abilities.

Our collective goal is to provide the highest quality individual education and team experience possible. All players are treated with respect and given the opportunity to experience growth in the areas of skills development, self-confidence and teamwork .

Our coaches all played hockey at a high level and understand the importance of building players self esteem and skills in a positive elite hockey environment.

This is a comprehensive spring and summer program, it is not simply tournament teams.
